Corning Museum of Glass – Gather Magazine
For almost twenty years, Corning Museum of Glass has published a biannual magazine for it's Museum Members. I recently completed a redesign, art directing and designing a whole new approach to the magazine. While working within set budgets and content, my aim was to produce a clean, colorful aesthetic that gives Members a unique, behind-the-scenes view of what is happening at the Museum.
The magazine was always called, The Gather, but in the spirit of simplicity I recommended the title be shortened simply to, Gather. The name refers to a gather of glass, a glassmaking term to describe a gob of hot glass at the end of a gaffer's blowpipe. The unique graphic on the first cover features a simple illustration of a gather of glass entering a hot furnace.
